African Black Eagle sculpture made from various recycled piano parts. I used Shou Sugi Ban, a traditional Japanese technique where wood is charred with fire, creating a natural, distinctive dark, textured appearance on the wings and body.

The body of the bird is made from Swan River mahogany from a John Broadwood and Sons grand piano leg from 1902, while the wings are from a full set of piano keys from a Ronson upright (unknown age).

The bird is suspended at three points using piano wire, with the head being able to be adjusted to preferred angle.
