SOLD - Roseate Spoonbill sculpture made from piano parts saved from landfill. The keys are from a Beckhardt 1920s upright piano. I used the wooden pedals from the lyre of an 1890s John Broadwood & Sons grand piano for the bird’s distinctive spoon shaped bill. I used a piano spring to allow the bill/pedals to open and close in order to hold sheet music or small objects.
The bird is perched on part of a Steinway elephant leg that was taken off when the Victorian piano was modernised.
