SOLD - Sculpture of the Northern Lapwing, the national bird of Ireland, made entirely from piano parts.

It’s perched on the top of the leg of a 1900s John Broadwood & Sons grand piano.

The body and head of the bird are sculpted from an unnamed 1920s upright piano leg, while the distinctive feathers of the Northern Lapwing are made from recycled piano bass strings. The beak and eyes are made from ebony from black piano keys.

The Northern Lapwing has an interesting call and I have used the notes (piano keys) from the bird’s call in the sculpture’s chest and tail.
