RED KITE
SOLD Red Kite made from 100% piano parts. The wings are made from a set of keys from a Steinway Model B 1909 from the Royal Academy of Music that was kindly given to me to save them from being disposed of, as the piano needed a new keyboard. The keys are not ivory, they are made from ivorine.
The eyes are solid brass (action screws) with the body made from a swan river mahogany grand piano leg. I also used brass sconces and frame screws for the bird’s talons and painted the head with grey French polish. The sculpture is suspended at three points using piano wire.
